The key to my classroom climate revolves around building relationships with my students and understanding their needs first. Preparing an environment that supports each student's strengths while encouraging growth is necessary. This may involve certain seating arrangements (and changes as necessary), as well as desensitization (less lighting, reducing extra noise, taking breaks, and changing scenery). In addition to the environment, the educator needs to know their students on a personal level in order to demonstrate care and receive care in return. When students know they are cared for and have positive feelings towards their teacher, they are more likely to relate to that teacher and not only follow the expectations but also to encourage others to do so as well. 

I strongly believe in a love and logic approach to creating and maintaining a successful classroom climate. Students should know and receive love but also must use logic in situations. Students are encouraged to complete their work and empowered to follow the beat of their own drum, but the rules in place stand. If the student fails to follow the expectations set or the assignments given, the relationship still stands as if they completed it. The love given is unconditional, however, consequences (which are related and logical) are applied. When work is not completed, the grade is given for what was done and may be fixed to gain additional points that were lost. If students are consistently talking over the teacher, their seats may be moved until they can once again show they can handle sitting next to each other during a lecture. However, if a class is restless or expresses needs that can easily be solved, they will be given their accommodations. For example, if students are constantly getting up out of their seats or fidgeting, it may be more beneficial to give them a physical break, such as stretching or quickly moving around to relieve restlessness. Punishments are not given (detentions, scolding, taking away privileges, etc), but solutions will be created by both teacher and student for all to reach their best potential.
